Connect Northshore was founded in response to a significant gap in services and resources for the LGBTQIA+ community in the Northshore area. Our vision? A community where all LGBTQIA+ individuals feel seen, heard, and supported. Our mission? To create an inclusive, diverse, and compassionate community through education, advocacy, and the provision of vital resources. Our core values of boldness, compassion, resilience, and inclusivity guide our every step, driving us to challenge societal norms and uplift those in need.
Our suite of services is designed to cater to the unique needs of the LGBTQIA+ community. From mental health counseling and healthcare services to education and advocacy programs, we strive to create a holistic support network. For instance, our youth and senior services programs ensure that support is available at every stage of life, while our community and social events provide safe spaces for individuals to connect and celebrate diversity.
Through legal services, support for homeless and at-risk individuals, a comprehensive resource library, transgender-specific services, and substance abuse programs, we aim to address a wide range of needs and challenges. For instance, our legal services were instrumental in assisting a young trans woman navigate a challenging legal transition process, ensuring her rights were protected and her voice was heard.
Looking ahead, exciting events and initiatives are on the horizon. Our Pride Month celebration promises to be a vibrant affirmation of identity and love, while the inaugural ConnectFest in October will be a festival of joy, connection, and community. We're also working on establishing The Connect Center, a dedicated space for LGBTQIA+ individuals to access resources, connect with others, and find support.
